The Icehouses

The large icehouse of the Chantilly Castle (registered as historical monument since 1988) is located on the border of the forest, opposite the castle entrance. Measured 9.25m in diameter and 11 m deep, it's capacity is about 600 tons of ice. It was one of the four icehouses of the castle of Chantilly.(  glacières  )

The visit of this icehouse is given by Ville d'art et histoire, according to a calendar.
The medium and small icehouse , are still located in the park of the Castle but are not open to the public.

The forth icehouse is located in the city of Vineuil Saint Firmin and is open only the days of The European Heritage.
